Hard-Earned Wisdom + Hot Water Tanks

We recently replaced our hot water tank. In a hurry.  With a bit of water on the floor. Here’s what we learned.

To-do list when replacing a hot water tank.

•  Write down the plumber’s name, contact information, and the date your new tank was installed.

•  Get the plumber’s invoice and the invoice for the tank (if you bought it separately).

•  Make a copy of the info from Steps 1 and 2. Secure it to your water tank (we recommend putting it all in a Ziploc bg and taping it to the side of the tank).

•  Put the originals in that file folder about all the things you buy for the house... that you want to go back to some years later

•  Register your new tank on the manufacturer’s website.

You’ll thank yourself in 10 years!
