BC Home Owners – Claim your Home Owner Grant and Pay Your Property Taxes

You may have read on your 2021 Property Tax Notice that Home Owner Grants will no longer be processed through your municipal property tax office.  Instead, starting 2021, the BC Provincial Government will be processing those applications.

Here’s what you will need to do to claim your Home Owner Grant.

• Go online to gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant or call 1-888-355-2700

• Fill in the online form for your Home Owner Grant application

• Make note of your submission confirmation number (you might also receive an email)

• Pay your municipality the amount owing by the due date, or arrange for pre-authorised debit payments throughout 2021/22

Prior to the Due Date
To avoid mishaps and penalties, check your municipal website for an online account of your property tax balance (if your municipality offers that service).
